Hibernal Solstice is coming ~

Winding down the year...

Richardson Area Democrats has had an amazing year. While the election did not result in all of the outcomes that we hoped for, we can be very proud of the work that we did to effect our goals. There were many obstacles that made the things we want seem beyond our control, but we would not be true to ourselves and our ideals if we didn't keep working to accomplish them. What we did see this past year is a community of diverse neighbors who came together in strength and hope, who supported excellent candidates that were well-qualified and who worked with determination, undaunted by the odds that were stacked against them. When we started this year, we knew this, and we proceeded with optimism and hope, regardless, knowing that no matter the outcome, we had to be able to say we put it all out there and had no regrets. We accomplished that goal.

And now we winter... The election is over and the future looks bleak. The powers that be want to squelch the inevitable uprising of non-white people and women in this country. Through intimidation and overturning long precedent, they are trying to push us back into the past, down into small contained spaces. But what I know is that when energy is compressed it is strengthened and the explosion is powerful. There is strength in numbers, and in 2025 we are going to grow and show everyone that we will not be silenced. But today it is time to rest, to pull back into the security of our homes, families and community and nurture our souls. 

We have our annual members meeting coming up in January. This meeting is for Patron Members, those who have donated to RAD in the past 12 months. If you have not renewed or want to become a Patron Member, please join now! We will be voting on Board Members and will get a treasurers report from 2024, as well as plans for 2025. The work we are doing is important and impactful, especially on the local level, and we have municipal and school board elections coming up this year! We have a new RAD t-shirt for 2025 as well! You can order yours for $30 or get a t-shirt and membership for $50! What a deal! T-shirts will be available at our January in-person meetings or can be shipped in January. 

There is much to do in 2025. We have big plans and goals and look forward to hearing your thoughts and suggestions along the way. We wish you and yours a safe and peaceful holiday season, in whatever way you move through these last weeks of the year.
