What a DIFFERENCE a week makes!

If these last weeks have taught us anything, it should be that life can change on a dime. The unprecedented fundraising, the wild swing in polling, the JOY and HOPE that we are seeing in the Democratic Party in general, but particularly the renewed interest and enthusiasm of young people is a wave I could ride for a long time. Folks are truly engaging, not just in donating, but in finding ways to get involved! Locally, we're seeing greater attendance at our meetings and an influx of membership at RAD, both new and renewing! There's energy and optimism and we all need to find ways to keep feeding it through Election Day!!

We have opportunities to get involved!! We've been teasing that we have postcards coming and are happy to announce that they have been ordered! We need to raise $4300 to get these mailed out. We'll also need help with making packets, writing the message on the back, and distribution/collection! But to start with, we are asking for donations to pay for postage. Postcard writing parties are coming - one we know of is being organized to meet at Brass Tap on Arapaho and will meet every two weeks starting next Wednesday, the 7th. They'll be writing cards for Averie For All to start with, and our postcards will be added as soon as they're here! There will be plenty of info on how to start writing soon, but right now let's Raise $$ and show how much we believe in our ability to make change!

Have you considered signing up  to work the election?  Last Saturday, our Coffee & Community meeting provided an opportunity to find out how crucial it is to have educated Democrats who believe in the right to vote working at the polls. The Texas Democratic Party has many ways we can get involved in Voter Protection!  You can find out about the training opportunities here and sign up to actually volunteer here!

And our local candidates still need our support! Representative Mihaela Plesa is in one of the most competitive races in the state in HD70. Averie Bishop for HD112, Sam Eppler for CD24 and George King for the State Board of Education District 12 all need your monetary and boots-on-ground support!  (Lots of links! We'll be hosting State Senator Roland Gutierrez at our August Happy Hour!! This month we're focusing on our right to live free from gun violence and are honored to welcome one of the most vocal gun safety advocates in the state. Please RSVP for August 15th at Four Bullets - 6:30-8:30!  These meetings are well attended and a good shot in the arm of camaraderie and companionship in these wild times. Please plan to join us!

In September, Rep James Talarico, former teacher and current social media phenom, will headline our meeting about the Right to Public Education! This event is going to be a shared event with other area clubs. We're scheduled for Saturday, Sept 21, from 3-5 pm and plan to fill a 450-seat auditorium at Richland College! Mark your calendars, details and invite to follow soon!

SEE YOU SOON~
