IMAGINE ~

John Lennon was on to something...

Dear Fellow Democrat,

Imagine... and then ACT on it. I've been thinking about this concept. The world we are living in existed only in the imagination of the conservative power brokers before it became our reality. They wanted this kind of complete dominance over the country, they carefully imagined, then planned, then executed the plan and now here we are.

I don't think it's unfair to say that liberals, progressives, or certainly the non-voting majority of Americans just went along "La Dee Dah", assuming the rights our side had fought so hard for in the past were safe and established. We have certainly found out otherwise, haven't we? Do we have a shortage of imagination on the left or have we just given in and agreed to live in their imagination?  I am challenging you to imagine the world YOU want to live in, and then act on that. Right now, most of us are physically free from the effects of their reality, but they keep the volume turned up so loud and constant that it becomes all we can think of and we feel the overwhelm of their terrible power.

WHAT IF... What if we had our own imagination and our own reality? A beautiful dream of true liberty and justice for all? Or a vision of a fair and functioning immigration system? Or an environment that sustained and promoted a good life for all of life? How about healthcare that was truly about health and care instead of profit? Oh! or a quality public education system that paid teachers enough to thrive?! What about the dignity of a living wage for a day's work? I could go on... but why don't You? ~ Imagine ~ and then take action. 

Next week, early voting starts. Please familiarize yourself with the propositions and print out the recommendations if needed to take with you!  Early voting starts October 20th, ends October 31st and election day is November 4th! Voting in EVERY election is a truly non-negotiable way to take action towards your imagined world. 

This Thursday evening, we will host our State Senator, Nathan Johnson for Attorney General at our monthly RAD Happy Hour!  We are a week or so into Hispanic Heritage Month and what a good time to hear from Vecinos Unidos about the the critical need for support for our immigrant neighbors who are living in fear. We are excited to also welcome back Commissioner Andy Sommerman, as well as - for the first time ever - the Honorable John Creuzot, Dallas Co District Attorney!  Please register for details and let's SHOW UP!!  We're expecting another good sized crowd (last month we had almost 200!!), so please bring a camp chair and get there early! TJ's Dawg House food truck will be there with great food and soft drinks for those who don't prefer beer, but there's nothing much better than a nice fall evening with Democrats and a good beer! 

This Saturday, we'll be ROARing again at the corner of 75 & Campbell! This is our weekly protest and it's been a real success! We have between 30-70 people that show up with signs between 10-11 on the Southeast corner. The reception from drivers has been so encouraging and every time someone sees someone else stand up, it gives them courage to do it themselves. JOIN US!  This week we'll close it down a little early and head to the downtown protest! 

Are you ready for the next No Kings Protest on October 18th? We'll be gathering and going as a group on the Dart rail like we did last time! JOIN US! The protest is from noon to 3:00, so we'll meet at 10:45 at Arapaho Station to ride together. We'll be wearing our RAD patriotic t-shirts that say "Democrats Defending Democracy" on back! If you don't have one, you can purchase it here and pick it up at the next Happy Hour or that morning!  If you prefer to go to a more local protest that day, Garland Dems are protesting at Firewheel area, and Collin County Democratic Party are protesting in Plano at Park & Preston! Get out and join one of the many protests!

There IS a better world and we can enjoy it together. The work to see it become true reality for all is daunting, but we are formidable when we join forces. I hope to see you at all of the places we are showing up. Let's Do This.
