DO SOMETHING!
Only 76 days till Election Day...
What are YOU doing to make sure we are electing Democrats up and down the ballots? The energy that's coming out of the Democratic National Convention is just so invigorating, we need to use it to get to work!
Day one was so beautiful with the passing of the torch - no drama, no hard feelings, just love and respect and gratitude emanating off that stage into the crowd and across the nation. Powerful speeches from so many parts of our party... AOC is absolutely masterful with her Bronx reality! Senator Rafael Warnock brought the passion of a pastor with a heart for the world! Hillary was gracious and supportive of that glass ceiling that is about to break. Jasmine Crockett stepped out of her role as a bulldog for a few minutes to show her appreciation for the tender support she got from Kamala. And the Biden family... Biden himself... how fortunate we are to have had them for 50 plus years as strong, smart, compassionate public servants. And when Kamala joined him on stage and we saw her hug President Biden and say, "Thank you, Joe, I love you"... we felt the genuineness of it all.
Day two began with the Roll Call that rocked the party! Who would think that roll call could be so fun? Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff introduced us to the woman he is in love with. It was sweet and funny and so obvious how much he respects her. Then the speakers we have all been so anxious to hear took the stage! Michelle Obama did not come to play! Her tribute to her mother tied into a call out to Harris's mother when she said that both of them had a message - Don't sit around and complain, DO SOMETHING! She was passionate and brilliant and it was so perfect when Barack took the stage and said, I'm the only one stupid enough to follow Michelle Obama. He delivered his inspiring and powerful message of Hope is Back in a way we've all missed so much - the way only Barack Obama can. And ended it with, "Let's get to work."
What stands out to me is the love, joy, and unity that is so obvious in our leaders. It sets a tone of the Joyful Warrior for all of us to follow. Such a contrast to the anger and fear and outrage, the lies and doom of the other party... and that's all I'll say on that. We have enthusiasm, energy, and a noble cause... and we have 76 days as I write this to get it done. Here are some opportunities for you to get involved!
