WE WILL NOT GO QUIETLY INTO A MONARCHY!!

This month is supposed to be focused on WATER...

Dear Fellow Democrat,

And we try to send out a weekly newsletter. But the daily barrage of Breaking News keeps us in a constant state of outrage and response. So here it is, Friday afternoon, Monday morning... and I'm trying to punch out Something of value. Stay with us, we're trying ~

Let's talk about this past weekend to start with. RAD, both members and simply community members, showed up in force Saturday to head downtown for the No Kings Mass Protest. We estimate around 150 of us went on two separate trains and walked down to City Hall to join the massive gathering of engaged Americans to send a message to the world - In the United States of America, we are ruled by a Constitution, not an authoritarian, not a dictator, NOT a king. Crowd estimates were up to 10,000 in Dallas.  Some of our members went to the more easily accessible event in McKinney to join what appears to be somewhere around 3,000 Collin County protesters. We're hearing reports of up to 20,000 showed up in Austin and that Houston represented with around 15,000. Equally impressive were the smaller, redder towns across the state that came out to have their voices amplified. I counted 60 protests across Texas alone! It was a HOT and joyous and peaceful day across the nation, with estimates ranging between 5 - 12.1 MILLION protesters. The largest day of protesting before this was the Women's March in January of 2017 with 4.5 Million. THIS is the kind of energy we need to build on to persuade enough powers that be - whether that's elected officials or the PEOPLE - that we will not stand for this oligarchic takeover attempt. There will be more coming up - I hear that July 4th, INDEPENDENCE DAY, will be our next protest. Stay Tuned!

Please note that tomorrow night both our new Mayor, Amir Omar, and our re-elected RISD Trustee, Vanessa Pacheco, will be in conversation with former Congressman Adam Kinzinger about the roadmap to winning their recent municipal elections.  There will be others on stage, but we are proud that two of our own will be in the small group. Tickets to the event are limited, but you can try to snag one (free) here. If you can't, it will also be livestreamed here. The event is Tuesday, June 17th, 6:30-8:30 at Northaven United Methodist Church.

OUR MONTHLY HAPPY HOUR is coming up this Thursday! We meet every third Thursday of the month and in June we'll be focusing on WATER! We're excited to hear from former City Council member and retired member of the North Texas Municipal Water District Board, John Sweeden - John will be joining us to educate us and answer questions about our water sources! We are also honored to welcome author and environmentalist legend, David Marquis. RAD read his beautiful book, The River Always Wins, for our June discussion. For over 50 years, David has been an activist, educating and expanding awareness of water issues and solutions. Please join us Thursday, the 19th, at our favorite brewery, Four Bullets! SIGN UP HERE for details!

This weekend, Senator Bernie Sanders, Congressman Greg Casar, and Beto O'Rourke will be in Fort Worth to talk about Fighting Oligarchy: Where We Go From Here. This will be a powerful program and if you can get there, I hope you will. You can sign up here and I'll bet they'll be livestreaming as well!
